TEHRAN- Iran and Russia signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the expansion of bilateral labor cooperation, according to the Tasnim News Agency.

The MOU, which was signed by Iranian Cooperative, Labor, and Social Welfare Minister Ali Rabiei and Russian Minister of Labor and Social Protection Maxim Topilin in Tehran on Monday, includes bilateral cooperation on employment, social security, and technical training.

Rabiei mentioned the exchange of technical knowledge between the two countries through offering technical-occupational training as an area proper for the bilateral cooperation.

He referred to the small-sized entrepreneurs as the other area for cooperation between Iran and Russia.

For his part, Topilin, who traveled to Iran on November 9 for a two-day visit to the country, said that Russia has a successful performance in the field of technical-occupational training; so it is a good area for cooperation with Iran.

He said the legislative approaches of the countries to social issues, such as pension insurances and social insurance, are close enough to continue cooperation on different levels, the Russian video news agency Ruptly reported.

Earlier in November, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak, heading a high-ranking Russian economic delegation, visited Iran and met with Iranian Communications and Information Technology Minister Mahmoud Vaezi.

“There are many fields of cooperation and given the measures which are now being taken for the expansion of ties between the two countries, Iran-Russia worth of trade could be increased highly from the current $1.07 billion,” Vaezi had noted in that meeting.
